Minutes 2-28

2/28 minutes present: mike, ben, pdox, aakash, muni, ming, jd, scott-dox

parking? after 4pm, any A or C parking lot

teacher recruitment: —how many classes registered? 9 numerous people signed up, not yet decided on classes (20~30) want 40~50 classes eventually —target: undergrads/grads who are not graduating immediately —partnership with other groups —undergrad stanford residence website, contact info of RAs, make friends with them. Aakash: will write a letter, so we can send to each dorm, go talk to them during study breaks with baked cookies + milk? (can get funded) —fliers anything from now on needs to have ASSU logo (needs to have white background) (b/c they fund us) (need artsy people) Applied physics admin: Paula comes to the rescue, might make flier for us. —try to get undergrads from non-science departments (french for self defense)

funding: —ben: hopefully will get approved for funding by tomorrow. anything we make we get to keep, anything they give us that we don’t finish spending they take back. —for next year: financial aid money for students. keep record of how many students ask for financial aid, so can ask ASSU for next year. —yes we are non-profit, we are part of ASSU

website: pictures/bio for teachers. check before opening up to students. pdox: flesh out student reg portion check link links to our new website

day-of jobs: bring students to campus, give them info they need (map, schedules, name tag, etc), organization. This needs ~10 people. use donuts to lure people to the job. -find community service groups to help out. need to be here 6/7am. (people present here 8 + 4 from MIT)

student recruitment: —need contact person from each school. goal before next meeting: get going with contacting schools. —average class size: 200 students / 10 class~20 students per class. —need a date on which registration starts. March 10—teacher reg ends. so March 20 —should contact schools now to schedule days to go talk to students after March 20. —examples of classes: mit database has all.

teacher training two sessions: march 15, april 1 trainers: one from us—logistics, one from HAAS center to tell people how to teach.

caltrain issue: sat morning train schedule problem. *solution 1): 10-1 classes, 1-2 lunch, 2-7 classes solution 2): still 9-6, but schedule few classes at 9, like classes taught twice. solution 3): 10-12, 12-6, rolling lunch, problem: people want to eat at the same time, to get to know others, friends, etc. solution 4): 10-1, 2-6. problem: 7 hour day, can’t teach for 8 hours.

will go with solution 1.

our reg table: archway main quad. will have signs guiding them from caltrain station

people who might be interested to be our allies: stanford admissions, science bus,

next meeting: 7pm-8pm
