Brief Biographical Sketch:

I was a home-learner until high school, where I entered public school for the first time. That was followed by college at Stanford University, where I graduated with a degree in Psychology. I am now a dancer, musician, filmmaker, writer, and a private tutor and mentor to young people.

My goal is to extend my own creative work into helping people of all ages find their voice and joy through the creative arts. Creativity -- whether it be writing a poem, playing a song, dancing, painting, designing a building, speaking a new language, or cooking a pie -- feeds out internal joy and opens us to our own inner truth. By opening to our voice, and speaking it out through creating, we inspire others to do the same.

Finding Your Voice: Music, Creative Writing, Art, and Telling About What's Important To You in Splash! Fall 2010
In the adventure of life, you can either do what people tell you to do, or you can listen to your heart and follow it. This class is about HOW to LISTEN. If you are an artist of any kind -- songwriter, dancer, painter, writer, cook, scientist -- or just want to be more creative... you will most likely enjoy this class. We will PLAY with some of these major creative tools... * Music * Writing * Movement * Voice ... all in an effort to see what your Inner Ear is Hearing, and How to Create what wants to come out of YOU. How can you Listen to yourself? Who are You? What story do you want to tell? What makes you feel alive? What makes you angry? What do you want to change? How do you want to share your Ideas and Truths with others? And it will be fun. If it's not fun, we'll do it differently until it is! Can't wait to see You.

Songwriting 101: How to voice your creativity in Splash! Fall 2009
Do you have notes or chord progressions floating through your head, but don't know how to fit words with them? Do you want to write in a way that feels true to yourself? Although there is no "one way" to write a song, we will explore different ways to access your own voice, and how it can come out through writing lyrics and melodies. We'll also play with sound, words, rhythm, and movement, to access the mental and emotional parts of ourselves that need a creative outlet. Come with an openness to challenging your creative boundaries, letting your voice out, and having fun together. Bring the chords in your head, songs-in-progress, or a musical instrument if you've got one!
