Brief Biographical Sketch:
Having done my PhD in Electronics with the European Space Agency in The Netherlands, I pretty soon figured out that work and life in Italy was not good for my sanity and moved to UK with Hewlett Packard. Founded a couple of companies, traveled around Europe, Asia and the US and eventually landed a job at Google as an Engineering Manger for our Partnerships organization. Last year I was asked to move to HQ in Mountain View, CA and have been managing a large engineering team, spread across US, London, Zurich and Sydney, working on a variety of products from Adsense, to Mobile to YouTube. As an Electronics PhD I have worked in four countries and visited countless all over the world.
If you have a passion for CS / Science, but still would like to experience different cultures, you don't need to give it up to become a Marketing exec or an Investment Banker.
In this short class I'll give you a few 'top tips' as how to deal with those pesky Europeans, how to figure out which part of the world you'd like to spend some time and work, and, generally, how to put a CS degree to good use!
