RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Establishment of the components in the tumor microenvironment affecting tumor gene expression and tumor progression, especially metastasis. Identification of druggable targets to prevent tumor growth and metastatic spread. Identification of genes being synthetically lethal to the loss of known tumor suppressors (like VHL in renal cancer) and dissection of the underlying mechanism.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:
2006 – Present Postdoctoral Scholar, Department of Radiation Oncology, Stanford University School of Medicine
(Research Advisor: Dr. Amato J. Giaccia).
Projects: Established the role of CDCP1 protein in renal cancer progression. Conducted the screening and identified the drugs being synthetically lethal to VHL loss in CC-RCC.
2003 – 2006 Research Fellow, Department of Molecular Cardiology, Lerner Research Institute, The Cleveland Clinic
(Research Advisor: Dr. Tatiana V. Byzova).
Projects: Dissected the regulation of outside-in β3 integrin signaling in normal endothelium and cancer. Investigated the consequences of impaired integrin signaling in immortalized lymphocytes of patients, characterized by LAD-III (leukocyte adhesion deficiency) syndrome.

Improvisational Belly Dance in Splash! Spring 2012
We will have a fun class full of dancing and improvisation. I will teach basic bellydance moves, some signature moves, some moves coming to bellydance from other forms of dance. We will use our basic dance knowledge to get confidence in how to sequence the moves to achieve an impression of a fully choreographed performance, which in reality would be an improvised one.


From DNA to RNA to protein...are we missing anything? in Splash! Spring 2012
This class will address the today's relevance of the basic postulate of molecular biology "From DNA to RNA to protein" and will further focus on exceptions from this rule like mechanisms of reverse transcription. If we have time, we'll also talk about miRNAs, non- coding RNAs, ribosomal RNAs.


Improvisational Belly Dance: a taste of Egyptian, Cabaret, Tribal, and Tribal Fusion in Splash! Fall 2011
In this class I would like to introduce some basic moves of belly dance, which would be linked to each other in different ways, creating an improvisational performance. This class will accommodate all skill levels starting from beginners to quite advanced dancers. The dance stylization to Egyptian, Cabaret, Tribal, and Tribal Fusion belly dance will be discussed and applied for the acquired dance skill in class. Please don't miss this opportunity to experience an old dance form originating from Egypt, which evolved here in San Francisco to become Tribal and Tribal Fusion belly dance!!!!! We will dance bare-feet and you will need some comfortable clothes.


Cloning: from plasmids to organisms in Splash! Fall 2011
In this class I will introduce the concepts of cloning (cloning of genes, cloning of cells, cloning of organisms) and explain how each of them can be executed. This class will be followed by a fun interactive discussion about the advantages and problems arising in course of genetic manipulations. The knowledge of what the nucleic acids (DNA, RNA) are would be of help!!!
