Learn how to read and write Korean alphabet (Hangul). You would be able to read and write basic words and phrases at the end of the class.
This course is recommended to students with no prior experiences in Korean.
Korean Intermediate in Splash! Spring 2012
Learn usual Korean expressions through the Korean dramas. You would be able to make basic conversation in Korean at the end of the class.
This course is recommended to students with any prior experiences in Korean.
Korean Basic : How to read and write in Splash! Fall 2011
We will learn the brief history of Korean alphabet (Hangul) and learn how to read and write short phrases.
Carbon-based Electronics: Going Organic! in Splash! Fall 2011
In this class, we will look at a class of materials known as organic semiconductors. These are carbon-based materials that can conduct electricity and are used for transistors, LEDs and even solar cells. You will learn about what make these materials conductive, how the devices operate and compete in some logic games!
Materials of the Future (NOVA Making Stuff) in Splash! Spring 2011
We will watch NOVA Making Stuff Series together in class. This program tells about the future of materials in terms of science and engineering. The original series consists of four different topics; Stronger, Smaller, Cleaner and Smarter. Among those four series we will watch two of them, Cleaner on Saturday(part 1) and Smarter on Sunday(part 2).
Each program is about an hour long and we will have a discussion on what we watched.
You can sign up just one part, but be sure to sign up both to see part 1 and part 2.
*Part 1 is not required to take part 2. Part 2 of this class is E1575.

Solar Cells and Batteries from Fruits in Splash! Fall 2010
In this class we will explore how solar cells and batteries work. We will construct different solar cells and batteries using ordinary fruits and compare their performances. Students will gain a basic understanding of the physics behind these devices and hands-on experiences making their own batteries!
Understanding Korean Culture: Food in Splash! Fall 2010
This course is designed to help students understand Korean culture by tasting decent Korean food and watching the the movie, "Le Grand Chef." In addition, students will participate in the discussion eagerly and express their opinions.
- Synopsis: "Le Grand Chef"
Based on the best-selling comic book LE GRAND CHEF follows two aspiring chefs in a national cooking competition, organized to find the true heir of the last Korean Royal Chef of the Chosun Dynasty. The winner will receive the Royal Chef Famous Knife. The film promises food preparation and presentation much in the spirit of Jewel in the Palace.
