Brief Biographical Sketch:
I'm passionate about making a "Splash" in education. I want to make learning more fun, relevant, creative, collaborative, and meaningful, while also creating a more sustainable, just, peaceful, and happy world! After all, I believe in the power of love, courage, serenity, and service to change the world. I'm currently the Co-President of Stanford ESP / Splash, and I love everything about it! In my spare time, I love swimming, eating, meditating, reading, playing piano, and teaching. Did you know that gratitude and self-compassion can rewire your brain and behavior for the better? Did you also know that they can help you deal with stress in school, improve your physical health, and transform your social life? In this class, you'll learn about the power of gratitude and self-compassion to change your life and increase your happiness! We'll look at scientific research from positive psychology and neurobiology, discuss all things happiness, and engage in a few fun exercises that will be useful in your everyday life.
Anyone Can Make It - Success Stories from Underrepresented Students at Stanford in Splash! Spring 2012
School is so boring. Classes, grades, homework, tests, it’s all so useless, right?
As true as it seems, it all has a purpose. In this class, you’ll talk to students from underrepresented backgrounds who made it to Stanford and are thriving as leaders today. These students thought the same things as you when they were in school and fought hard to get through it. They’ll tell their stories and provide their thoughts on the key elements to success as an student from an underserved or underrepresented area. They will also discuss how to make the most out of your education and programs like Splash!
Redefine Success in Splash! Spring 2012
In this class, you'll challenge your notion of what "success" is. You'll begin to create a new vision and action plan to increase your clarity, motivation, and balance in all areas of your life. Lastly, you'll develop a toolbox of skills you can use to reframe what matters to you, act on it, and achieve your own form of "success."
Forget Goals, Let's Craft A Vision! in Splash! Fall 2011
In this course, you'll create a comprehensive, personal vision for your life that will motivate you to fulfill your deepest aspirations. Alongside your personal vision, you will also craft a world vision, a wish list for what type of world you want to live in 50 years from now. With both inspired visions in hand, you'll learn ways to put them into action - making your dreams into a reality!
Lessons on Nonviolence in Splash! Fall 2011
Gandhi. Martin Luther King Jr. Cesar Chavez. The Dalai Lama. These great figures all have one thing in common - they practiced nonviolence. In this course, we'll ask the question: what is nonviolence? Drawing on the examples of the great leaders above, you'll explore, learn, and apply the principles of nonviolence (what Gandhi called "Ahimsa"). Together, we'll envision a more peaceful, loving world and work to transform ourselves and our community for the better!
Make Everyday Thanksgiving: The Attitude of Gratitude! in Splash! Fall 2011

The Philosophy of Star Wars in Splash! Spring 2011
In this course, we will explore the connections between the Star Wars movies (Episodes 1 through 6) and real life. We will examine key philosophies (i.e. light side vs. dark side) presented by the characters (Yoda, Anakin, etc.) and the plot of the movies. Lastly, we'll discover how these ideas relate back to you and how you should lead your life.

In this class, you'll learn how to craft goals and goal statements that you will actually achieve! You'll learn why people often fail to achieve their goals and resolutions, and how to follow through with your personalized goals.
Positivity! in Splash! Fall 2010
We will learn and brainstorm different ways to bring more happiness and positive energy to our daily lives. With fun activities, we will explore kindness, volunteering, gratitude, affirmations, love, support, meditation, and plenty of other exciting things!
