Year of Graduation: G

Brief Biographical Sketch:

I am a graduate in Biophysics who is quite addicted to Research and Science Outreach. My first step in Science was a cooking experiment at age 3.5. Although it was satisfying to eat the product of my own research –which at that point was not too promising--I decided I was better off working towards the creation of new medical tools. Ever since I discovered my passion for research I have been trying to communicate it to others. During my undergraduate degrree started a seminar series, “Adventures in Science” to expose undergraduates to what cutting edge research is about. I think research is the promise knowledge is unlimited, and that there will always be something new to learn. I am planning to pursue a career in academia and to continue to pursue science outreach because, although research might not be for everyone, we should all have an understanding of how the world around us works.

Micro-Machines: Motoring through the cell in Splash! Spring 2009
When you are so small you can only be seen with a microscope it takes sophisticated molecular machines to do basic tasks like move through liquid, transport nutrients and construct cell walls. This class will explore how molecular motors act like an army of tiny robots helping cells carry out a variety of tasks to ensure their survival.
