Brief Biographical Sketch:

Tim graduated from Stanford with a master's degree in 2010. He has managed a business unit for a major Fortune 500 company and worked at a start-up company. He has also been behind the scenes at CNN, CBS and ABC. While an undergraduate, Tim was the Executive Director of UC Berkeley’s student TV station. He interviewed numerous movie stars in Los Angeles and New York City. Tim graduated with a bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley with highest honors and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Back in high school, Tim was student body president and a straight A 4.0 student.

H3019: Marketing Mobile Apps in Splash! Spring 2013 (Apr. 13 - 14, 2013)
This course covers how to promote mobile apps, how to market mobile apps, how to make money building mobile apps. It is a more business focused course that does not deal with software programming or engineering specifically. We will review how successful app developers promote their apps


V2352: Speech Communication and Public Speaking in Splash! Fall 2012 (Nov. 03 - 04, 2012)
Learn how to improve your public speaking and your speech skills. This course is taught by a graduate of Stanford's communication department. We will focus on real world examples to help you become a better speaker.


V2353: Media in Splash! Fall 2012 (Nov. 03 - 04, 2012)
Learn all about media. This class will be very broad. It will cover TV, radio, print, and internet pop media. If these questions interest you, this class is a good choice: How do you make a YouTube video go viral? At what age do most people stop being interested in discovering new pop music? Where does the record industry make most of its money? Hint: not in the price you pay for music downloads or CD's What are a few tips for becoming famous? This popular course is taught by a three year SPLASH veteran teacher who has a master's degree in communication from Stanford


S2258: Communication for Leaders in Splash! Spring 2012 (Apr. 21 - 22, 2012)
Have you ever wanted to lead a group or organization? This class teaches you the communication skills that will help you rise to a position of leadership in a campus group or company. We will also discuss how to communicate to others when you are in a position of leadership. This popular class is back for the fourth time!


V2259: Entertainment Marketing and Business Management in Splash! Spring 2012 (Apr. 21 - 22, 2012)
Learn about business management in the entertainment business. Learn about entertainment marketing and how companies make money off entertainment properties. We'll leverage insights from major Hollywood blockbusters, video games and kids shows.


S1702: Intro to marketing and business management in Splash! Fall 2011 (Oct. 29 - 30, 2011)
This course will teach basic marketing principles, with special emphasis given to online marketing techniques. You will learn how businesses attract customers. You will learn how corporations manage business units. We will also cover basic consumer behavior. If you like to shop, earn money, and spend money, this is a great class for you.


S1703: Communication and Leadership in Groups in Splash! Fall 2011 (Oct. 29 - 30, 2011)
Have you ever wanted to take over a campus club and be the top student leader in that organization? This class will teach you the communication techniques you need in order to rise to a position of prominence in an organized group. You will learn how to make the more experienced students in the organization want to pick you as a future leader. When it comes to organizations that elect their leaders, you will acquire a toolkit of interpersonal communication strategies to help you win that election. You will learn about how to motivate teams of students. You will learn some of the politics behind group decision making. If you someday hope to be a successful member of your schools student council, this might be a good class for you to take. If you want to be the president of a campus club when you attend college, this also might be a good class for you to take. This course was successfully offered before and is back for the third time!


S1704: High income jobs in Splash! Fall 2011 (Oct. 29 - 30, 2011)
This course will explain a number of high income occupations and how you can go about find a job working in these fields. Sometimes advance planning is necessary to pursue a career that yields a large salary. We will discuss college majors, entry level jobs, working conditions and strategies for developing a career path that leads to a high income occupation. We will focus specifically on careers that pay in the top 5-10% of American incomes. This will be an honest and straightforward course. We will also discuss the hardships often associated with pursuing high income careers.

L1474: Public speaking interactive workshop in Splash! Spring 2011 (Apr. 16 - 17, 2011)
We will work together to practice and improve public speaking skills. Each student will deliver a short impromptu speech. Instruction will be offered but this will be a group activity class where learning will also come from practice and peer critique. If you are not already comfortable talking in front of others, please choose a different class. Class is taught by a graduate of Stanford's communication program. This class is only offered for 10 students. If you sign up please show up! If you are on the fence about attending or plan to skip class please register for a different class. Please arrive on time. Please bring a pencil or pen to class.


P718: Television Mass Communication in Splash! Spring 2010 (Apr. 17 - 18, 2010)
Learn everything you ever wanted to know about television broadcast news. This course will cover the basics of how to anchor a news broadcast, how to read news copy on air and how to produce news stories that will keep the audience watching. The course will also cover salaries in the industry and entry level career opportunities. You can learn about opportunities on camera and you can also learn about the role of people who work behind the camera.
