This class will be a small focus group where you can talk directly to current Stanford students who organize Splash. Everyone has heard of dragons. Dragons are the big scaly monsters that can breath fire, right? Well, as it turns out, it depends. Dragons appear in many different shapes and sizes all throughout the myths and legends of many nations and through much of literature as well. The class will be divided into three parts, in first part we will be looking at the origins of dragons as they appear in various mythologies around the world. The second part will be a look at the how dragons have evolved recently in books and movies. The third part will be a Q and A about the other two parts.

Group theory serves as a foundation for most other branches of mathematics and are essential for everything ranging from symmetry to modern particle physics. This class will teach the theory in the Moore method; you will not be lectured at, but as a group you will rederive the theorems yourselves.
