Brief Biographical Sketch:

I'm a 3rd year computer science PhD doing research in Gill Bejerano's group. Gill is a Prof in both Developmental Biology and Computer Science, so my research is very bio-oriented. I'm originally from Vienna, Austria and did an undergrad and Master's in Computer Science over there. When I was 23, I came here to do a PhD at Stanford. Outside of the academics, I'm learning to play guitar and love hanging out with good friends.

Currently I'm doing research on how to help doctors diagnose kids with rare diseases. These diseases are sometimes caused by single mutations in the human genome. Diseases that are caused by single mutations are also called Mendelian diseases. Because we are now able to sequence human genomes, our knowledge about Mendelian diseases is growing a lot. My research is about helping doctors diagnose patients with Mendelian diseases based on the latest scientific literature.
