Brief Biographical Sketch:

Kevin Meng graduated from the University of Maryland College Park in 2012 with honors in Microbiology. For his undergraduate thesis, Kevin studied the mechanisms of heme homeostasis in C. elegans and was awarded the HHMI undergraduate fellowship for his work. He is an avid sports player/fan and enjoys learning about all areas of biological sciences. Kevin is currently a first year graduate student at Stanford University, where he hopes to continue being involved in education and making significant contributions to science.

B3211: Microbial Encounters in Daily Life in Splash! Fall 2013 (Nov. 02 - 03, 2013)
Have you ever wondered how many and what types of invisible bugs you encounter on a daily basis? In this class, we will explore the microbes that constantly surround us - everywhere from the kitchen sink to the inside of your mouth. The class will be a half-hour lecture followed by an interactive discussion. Hands-on modeling/drawing will demonstrate what different types of microbes look like and how they interact with their environment.
