Brief Biographical Sketch:

I'm a Stanford junior studying Computer Science. I'm from upstate NY, and like snow for exactly the two weeks I see it during winter break. Within CS, I'm interested in cryptography, databases, and computational logic. I'm a news junkie, and have a side interest in linguistic syntax.

My favorite programming talk (story?) is "The Little Printf" - it's a sweet little tale in the style of "The Little Prince"

M5221: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies in Splash Fall 2016 (Dec. 03 - 04, 2016)
Bitcoin gets a lot press, but how does it actually work? And how do the ideas behind Bitcoin enable “smart contract” systems like Ethereum? The way Bitcoin works is so ingenious that you might even call it beautiful. I hope to convey that to you by focusing on what makes Bitcoin so different; I’ll put more emphasis on the high-level design of the system, rather than the exact code or mathematics behind it. We’ll also talk about how Ethereum smart contracts work, and the kinds of decentralized applications people have built with them: social networks, virtual worlds, crowdfunding sites, and even companies!
