S7229: Political Games in Splash Spring 2019 (May. 04 - 05, 2019)
This class is an introductory 'mini-course' in the fundamentals of game theory, introducing basic mathematical concepts like permutations, combinations, factorials and probabilities, as well as basic game theory problems and competitive models, such as the Prisoner's Dilemma, 'Chicken', The 'Battle of the Sexes' and the monopolistic 'trade war'. Students will develop and critique strategies of their own for case studies and draw interdisciplinary connections between history, law, economics, business and the natural sciences using game-theoretic approaches.
