Brief Biographical Sketch:

Kevin Tian is a PhD student in computer science who originally hails from Texas and has a substantial curiosity and respect for the humanities and people as a whole. This means he enjoys meeting new people and sharing ideas, and believes there are things to learn from everybody.

He is excited about music both as an art form and a social phenomenon. Always on the lookout for people to jam with, he comes from a background in classical viola and violin, but also dabbles in guitar, piano, percussion, and vocals on the side. He enjoys R&B, jazz, hip hop, and musical improvisation in general.

On the academic side, Kevin completed his undergraduate studies at MIT in mathematics and computer science, and is now interested in problems in optimization, learning theory, and statistics.
